OUR VISIONARY
Mamie L. Scott is the visionary of the Community of Hope Center, Inc. and
serves as the Director. She is a graduate of Halifax County Schools and holds an
Associate of Art Degree in Pre-Teaching Elementary Education from Halifax
Community College. Mrs. Scott also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social
Work from Shaw University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Mamie L. Scott is a life-long educator being employed with Halifax County
Schools for 41 years. While being employed with Halifax County schools, she had
the opportunity to serve in the following capacities: Teacher Assistant; Parent
Involvement Specialist; Middle School Coordinator; Dropout Prevention Specialist
and prior to retirement as a Social Worker in grades K-12. Mrs. Scott has always
enjoyed working with the youth and would serve during the summers as the
Summer school coordinator for several weeks. While employed with the Halifax
County School System, she received many honors and recognition for her
services. She was recognized as Teacher Assistant of the Year 2001-2005 at
Eastman Middle School; Extra Effort Award for Guidance, Encouragement, and
Inspiration; Volunteer Appreciation Away for outstanding service to Education;
Excellence in Leadership Award for Outstanding and Community Outreach
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and an Excellence in Drop-Out
Prevention Award.
Mamie L. Scott is an ordained minister of the Gospel and serves as an
Associate Minister at New Bethel Church in Enfield, N.C. She was married to the
late Wilbur Scott and is the mother to four children: Dawn, Gregg, Hope and
Dexter. She is grandmother to 13 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 3
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Scott truly believes “where there is hope, there is life”.
She desires to offer hope and life to those she will serve in the Enfield
Community.
